On the morning of November 20th, three B747 cargo planes were put up for auction on a Chinese online shopping platform. SF Express won bids for two of the planes, spending RMB 320 million and planning to use them at its to-be-completed international airport – the Ezhou Airport/Hubei International Logistics Hub.
The three cargo planes were put up for auction by Jade Airlines, a joint venture between a Chinese company and a German company. It is reported to be the largest online transaction in China in terms of value, as well as the first online auction of an airplane in history.
