On April 10th, 2018, SF Global Express (M) Sdn Bhd partnered with a consortium of organizations to host the opening ceremony for the Malaysia-China Cross Border E-Commerce Sharing Platform (MCESP) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The group of organizations included ICBC, Home Deal, LingHang International (M) Sdn Bhd, and the eBusiness Association of Malaysia. The opening ceremony was attended by the Second Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chua, as well as over 200 Malaysian e-commerce merchants and retailers.
Joshua Ruskin, Head of the Customer Solutions Team for SF Express’s Overseas Regions was invited to speak during the ceremony. According to him, China’s cross-border e-commerce industry began to grow ten years ago. Many foreign cross-border e-commerce merchants have begun to enter the China market but face many challenges such as complicated customs clearance processes, tax regulations, language barriers, lack of brand awareness, and cultural differences. With an extensive China-wide network and deep experience operating in the industry, SF Express is able to provide integrated logistics solutions to help e-commerce players successfully enter the China market.

As one of China’s most important business partners in the ASEAN region, Malaysia has many local products and brands that appeal to Chinese consumers. Thus, the potential for cross-border e-commerce between Malaysia and China is large. The Malaysia-China Cross Border E-Commerce Sharing Platform is a resource-sharing platform that aims to assist Malaysian SMEs in entering the China market via cross-border e-commerce. For example, e-commerce merchants in Malaysia can start an online business on Home Deal, a local e-commerce platform, and then select premium products to sell in China via ICBC’s e-commerce platform. SF Global Express (M) Sdn Bhd is the designated logistics partner of the Malaysia-China Cross Border E-Commerce Sharing Platform, providing integrated logistics solutions to merchants on the platform.
