Singapore Export Rates (Effective May 1, 2011)
Shipment density can be one of the factors that determine a shipping rate. The volumetric weight of a shipment is a calculation that reflects the package’s density. A less dense item generally occupies more space, in comparison to its actual weight. Therefore, shipping rate is calculated based on the actual weight or the volumetric weight, whichever is greater.
With reference to the industry practice, the formula used to calculate volumetric weight (in kg) is:
Length (cm) x Width (cm) x Height (cm) ÷ 6,000
(The volumetric weight divisor for shipments transported by truck is 12,000, which may vary according to different Countries and Market Practices)
