Implementation of “Customs deferment surcharge for import duty and tax”

With regard to the captioned, for the sake of more speedy delivery service of import shipments, SF Express Japan pays a temporary advance of import duties and consumption taxes for customers upon customs clearance without billing customer any charges subject to that the total amount is up to JPY100,000 per shipment.
Due to continuous increase of import shipments volume, our situation has become rather difficult to continue this service due to the impact of our financial and administrative cost. Therefore, in order to continue this service stably, SF Express Japan will start to bill customers a “Customs deferment surcharge” for shipments that SFExpress Japan has paid temporary advances of import duties and consumption taxes.
For the details please refer to the following;
- Date of commencement: Shipments permitted to import as of 01 February, 2020
- Surcharge amount*: 5% of total advance with Minimum JPY600 per HAWB
*subject to consumption tax of 10%
