The center of “Mitag”, the 17th typhoon this year, is located about 370 kilometers east by south of Shanwei in Guangdong Province, over the northern ocean surface of South China Sea. The maximum wind force near the center is 8 on the Beaufort scale (18 meters per second). It is expected that Mitag will move in a west-north direction at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour with increasing strength, approaching the central and eastern coasts of Guangdong. It will also make landfall along coastal areas from Huilai to Taishan in Guangdong Province from afternoon to night on September 19th (23-28 meters per second, 9-10 on the Beaufort scale, tropical storm or severe tropical storm). After making landfall, it will move westward and its intensity will gradually weaken. It is expected that heavy to torrential rain will occur in part of areas of Fujian, Hong Kong, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, and Hunan. Some areas in central and eastern Guangdong, southeastern Fujian will have downpour, with some local areas will experience heavy downpour.

As affected by the foregoing, the traffic capacity of airports may be reduced. Some highways and some ports might be closed. The transit time of shipments in and out of related areas might be affected to certain extent, and SF will pay close attention to the weather conditions and allocate resources reasonably to make sure that your shipments are delivered safely. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you!
